Why Your New Year’s Resolution Always Fails

You had great intentions. You say every year that you’re going to lose weight, stop smoking, stop drinking, start exercising, eat better, find a better job, or whatever the positive change may be. January isn’t even over, so what happened? You started off strong. You got up early, said positive affirmations, made a commitment and told all your friends. Years go by and you repeat the same no success cycle over and over. If you've learned anything at this point, you should know that approaching this the same way every January simply isn’t going to work.

Here are the facts. You failed because your subconscious mind put you back on autopilot to do the same thing you’ve always done. Those subconscious associations are very powerful. Just look at the associations you may have built. You may have started smoking to be a part of a peer group in school. You associate birthday cake and all kinds of fattening foods with happy times spent with family and friends. A friend asks you to do something fun so you skip the gym. You meet your friends after work and they’re having cocktails and they convince you to just have drinks and appetizers. I could think of dozens of scenarios just like this. No matter how much willpower you think you have, the subconscious is just too strong.

So why do pure willpower, positive affirmations, and good intentions just not work? All these habits you’re trying to break have positive associations in your subconscious. You may have even learned them at a young age when you were very suggestible and influenced by peer pressure, life experiences, family, or friends. Once they’re in the subconscious, it takes a little more than a New Year’s resolution to change them.

If you’re feeling defeated and tired of fighting this battle year after year, how do you change it? You need something more powerful than good intentions and willpower. You’ve got to retrain the subconscious. You need hypnosis!

Hypnosis breaks through the critical mind and works directly with the subconscious. Through hypnosis, we can work with the subconscious to give positive suggestions, build better associations, install anchors, and ultimately retrain the subconscious to put you back on the fast track to reaching your goals. Don’t wait for another January to completely pass you by. Let hypnosis put your subconscious on autopilot to make those New Year's resolution a reality.
